Updated: Jun 30

Last weekend, I drove through the Hudson Valley and couldn't stop pulling over to take photos. The hills were this incredible shade of green, and there was morning mist hanging over the river. It got me thinking - this is exactly why couples fall head over heels for Hudson Valley New York wedding venues. I had to put together the ultimate guide to Hudson Valley, NY wedding venues!

This list will actually deliver on its promises. No fluff, just the good stuff.

What Makes Hudson Valley New York Wedding Venues Special

Okay, so everyone says the Hudson Valley is beautiful. But here's what they don't tell you - it's the kind of beautiful that makes your aunt from Florida finally understand why you moved to New York.

You're maybe two hours from the city, but it feels like a different planet. Rolling hills that go on forever. Little towns that look like movie sets. And depending on when you visit, the whole landscape changes.

I've seen Spring weddings here where the cherry trees were blooming and it looked like something out of a magazine. Summer gives you those long, warm evenings where nobody wants to go inside. Fall? Don't even get me started on Fall. The leaves are so vibrant your photographer won't need to edit anything. Winter weddings have this cozy, intimate feeling that's hard to find anywhere else.

The variety of Hudson Valley New York wedding venues is pretty impressive too. You've got everything from working farms to fancy resorts to quirky converted spaces.

What to Consider When Choosing Hudson Valley New York Wedding Venues

Here's what matters, based on my experience:

How many people are you inviting? Sounds obvious, but I've seen couples fall in love with venues that are way too small or conversely, too big for their guest list.

What time of year? Each season here is completely different. Fall is gorgeous but very in demand. Spring can be beautiful but also rainy. Summer is perfect but hot. Winter is cozy but some venues don't heat well. Things to think about!

What's your actual budget?  Some places include everything. Others charge separately for tables, chairs, lighting, etc.

Where are your guests coming from? If most people are driving up from the city, that's different than if you have elderly relatives flying in from across the country.

What do you actually want? A big party? An intimate dinner? Dancing until 2 AM? A casual afternoon thing? The venue should match what you envision for your perfect wedding day.
