Best Catskills Wedding Venues (From Someone Who's Actually Been There)

Updated: Jun 30

I've had a lot of people ask me about Catskills wedding venues. Specifically those who are married and are looking for somewhere "rustic but not too country."

You know what I mean?

I'm super familiar with this area and its wedding venues.

Here's my actual list of places I'd recommend - or warn you about.

Why Everyone's Obsessed with Catskills Wedding Venues Right Now

blue skies and panoramic view of catskills

Two hours from the city and suddenly you're in a completely different world.

What makes these venues different:

The mountains don't lie. Fall colors that make your iPhone camera look professional. Winter snow that transforms everything into Narnia.

Most places let you have the whole weekend. No rushing through cocktail hour because the next couple needs to set up.

Real history everywhere. I'm talking barns from the 1800s, the kinds of beauty that only comes with age.

But honestly? The main reason people love Catskills wedding venues is that they feel authentic.

My Go-To Catskills Wedding Venues

1. Foxfire Mountain House

📍 Address: 72 Andrew Ln, Mt Tremper, NY 12457  🌐 Website: foxfiremountainhouse.com  📞 Phone: (845) 688-2500  📧 Email: hello@foxfiremountainhouse.com

This place is like a fever dream in the best way.

Moroccan tiles, vintage furniture, gardens that look like they grew themselves. I've seen entire wedding galleries from here where every single photo looked like it belonged in a magazine.

The vibe is very artistic yet sophisticated.

Two things to note: it's definitely and investment. And they book up really fast. If you're considering having your wedding here, reach out as soon as possible.

2. Cedar Lakes Estate

Cedar Lakes is like Summer camp in the best way possible.

There are tons of different options for your wedding.

Ceremony on the mountaintop. Cocktails by the lake. Dancing in the barn. Guests stay in cabins that are way nicer than most apartments.

You can't go wrong wherever you decide to actually say "I do" on the property.

It is a beautiful venue, and your guests are guaranteed to never want to leave.

3. The Kaaterskill

You know that red barn that shows up in every Hudson Valley Instagram post?

Yeah, this is it.

The Kaaterskill is "rustic elegance" at its finest. Real 1800s barn, mountain views that go on forever, and they have an actual art gallery attached.

One thing to note: the ceremony space is outdoors, so consider potential weather when weighing pros and cons.

4. Gather Greene

This place is stunning.

Gather Greene sits on top of a ridge with views for miles. Clean lines everywhere. Incredibly beautiful cabins.

If you're into architecture and/or design, you will fall in love with this place.

5. The Roxbury Barn & Estate

Get married in the actual forest, party in a fancy barn.

The ceremony site is on top of a mountain in the woods. Like, you're walking down an aisle between trees with the valley spread out below you.

Then everyone heads to this gorgeous modern barn that somehow looks like it has always belonged there even though it is in the middle of the woods.

6. Hayfield Catskills

Twin barns, rolling hills, quintessential Hudson Valley.

This venue is popular with the NYC fashion crowd because everything photographs beautifully here. The light is always perfect, and the backgrounds are always stunning.

You can choose one barn for the ceremony, the other for dancing. Which is a smart move because it can give everyone space to breathe.

Totally gorgeous.

7. Windham Manor

This place is unbelievable.

This whole estate sleeps 24 people, so your wedding party and immediate family can all stay together. No one has to drive anywhere or worry about hotels.

The house is gorgeous. There are multiple spaces for different parts of the celebration.

Honestly, this is one of my favorites.

Definitely consider this venue especially if you have a longer guest list.

8. Blooming Hill Farm

If you're a foodie, this is the spot for you!

Blooming Hill is an actual working farm, and their farm-to-table situation is next level. Vegetables that were growing in the morning end up on your plate that night.

The setting is more intimate - think big family dinner vibes.

This is the perfect venue for couples looking for a smaller more intimate space.

9. Scribner's Catskill Lodge

Boutique hotel vibes with mountain views.

This place is more refined than rustic. Think upscale ski lodge meets modern farmhouse. Great for smaller weddings or welcome parties.

The rooms are gorgeous and the food is really good. Your guests will feel pampered just being there.

You can rest assured you will also receive the full hospitality experience.

Real Talk About Choosing Catskills Wedding Venues

Weather can be tricky. This can be true for anywhere in the world, but it is wise to always consider the temperature, time of day, and time of year for your wedding.

Seasonal pros and cons. Fall weddings are beautiful but that also increases prices while availability goes down. Spring and Summer are just as beautiful and can be less stressful to book if you are flexible on the time of year.

Budget for extras. Most Catskills wedding venues are just the space. You need to bring in everything else - catering, bathrooms, tables, chairs, the works. Just something to consider when beginning to plan.

Book accommodation early. There aren't a ton of hotels up here. If you want your guests to stay nearby, start looking at options early.

Planning a Catskills Wedding

One things you can't underestimate about a Catskills wedding is logistics.

These aren't turnkey venues like hotels. You're basically building a wedding from scratch in the mountains.

What you actually need to think about:

  • Catering (and a place for them to prep food)

  • Bathrooms (probably need to rent some)

  • Parking (fields get muddy when it rains)

  • Transportation (shuttle buses for elderly guests)

  • Weather backup (not just tents - real backup)

Hiring a planner who knows the area and who's dealt with mountain weather and rural logistics is so helpful.

Why Catskills Wedding Venues Are Worth It

beautiful sunset over the mountains in the catskills

There are a few more things to think about when planning a Catskills wedding, but the ones up here just hit different.

Maybe it's the mountains. Could be it's getting away from the city chaos. Maybe it's just that barn venues force you to focus on what actually matters.

Your wedding photos will be gorgeous, obviously. But more than that, your wedding will feel real. Authentic in a way that's hard to find other places.

Plus your guests get a weekend away instead of just a Saturday night. Most people leave saying it was the best wedding they've ever been to.

Ready to Find Your Perfect Catskills Wedding Venue?

I could keep going, but honestly you need to see these places yourself.

As someone who's worked in this area for years, I know which Catskills wedding venues work for different types of couples. Which ones have hidden costs. Which vendors to trust.

More importantly, I know how to handle all the logistics so you can actually enjoy your engagement instead of stressing about whether there are enough bathrooms.

If you want a wedding that feels authentic and beautiful, let's talk.
